This was intriguing, as it let me experience how someone might shape the world to their perception, and how those around them would influence their hand. While used for small things at first, over time her power usage begins to spiral a bit out of hand as repressed issues rise to the surface. The story’s stakes ramp up after Raya reveals to Atma that she has a supernatural ability that allows her to manipulate reality in various ways. These sections are typically quick and don’t overstay their welcome, which I appreciated. There are also some light combat sequences, typically involving bullies or similar small fry that require some old-school directional inputs harkening back to arcade-stick fighters. The amount of color and detail expressed through the pixel art style is simply breathtaking. ![]() And if you haven’t been able to tell already, this world is visually stunning. I didn’t mind walking back to an area I previously visited because it gave me an opportunity to talk to more people, take in the sights, and of course, pet more animals. ![]() It would be remiss not to mention that many of these tasks do end up being fetch quests, but I never felt like they became overly tedious because of how interesting the world was to explore. This was a great way to ensure the town felt lived in, and that every location had something to contribute towards the broad narrative, even if not tied directly to pushing the main objective forward. It really felt as if everyone knew each other, and reminded me of that nostalgic small town feeling. The townsfolk and interconnected nature of it all is where I found the game to be overflowing with charm. These can involve collecting bottle caps hidden throughout the environment, finding ingredients for a cake or petting and naming every single cat you come across. Much of your time centers around completing various tasks for people around town, or working towards crossing things off from Atma and Raya’s shared bucket list. Set within a small, yet bustling town of rural Indonesia, the pair must overcome a strange supernatural force that beckons the end of the world. However, not everything is as it seems, as reality itself begins to unweave and what is true is called into question. And I don't mean only the two main characters, Atma and Raya, which are so natural in their decisions regarding some complex situations, but also the other characters, each one of them being subject of the story.Two high school sweethearts, Atma and Raya, embark on a journey of self discovery as their high school years begin to draw to a close. On the other hand, what I like the most about the game is the complexity of characters and their natural behavior. The worst section of the game is the UI (user interface) which I consider it very poor designed. But the truth is the pixel-art is a graphic style especially used for projects with a low-budget. I admit that I'm not a fan of the pixelated graphic so my opinion is purely subjective. Far be it from me to minimize the hard work of the game art director and his team but I think the pixel-art is too overrated. Anyway, I think you should try, but didn't work for me as intended. There are some holes too, mostly on some ellipses. What about the path? The dialogs were too "silly" for me. And It is? Some critiques say that the end is amazing, but man, I don't want to play for 9 hours just to the end. That's okay for me, but if the gameplay is off, the narrative must be pretty good to compensate. There's no challenge, at least in the first 3 hours, and what makes you go ahead is mostly the story and visuals. ![]() Regrettably, the plot doesn't sustain itself. Before I forget, the OST was a highlight here. The characters got my attention fast enough. The prologue worked for me, and I was genuinely curious about it. The pixel art felt careful and, because of the period it passes, matches with the atmosphere. There are some aspects that I enjoyed here. ![]()
