Star wars galaxy edge lightsaber11/13/2023 ![]() ![]() But then a cast member approached me, my daughter’s lightsaber still aglow in my hand and said something about keeping my scrap metal out of sight. No dice, though the Stormtroopers just strolled on by. I unsheathed the radiant blue beacon and stood near them with it lit up, pressed against my back with the blade peeking up over my shoulder, so as to be intentionally poorly concealed. So, when she didn’t want to take the saber herself to get their attention, she asked me to. Her goal was for me to get “arrested” by the soldiers, as she’d seen it happen to other guests (you get taken a short distance to a public area, fake-yelled-at, given a photo opp, and send on your way). Hilariously, anytime we’d spot the Stormtroopers, she’d run and hide, egging me on to use her saber to draw their ire. And so we sought out the pair of Stormtroopers roaming the Land, followed them around, and tried to get noticed. From there, everyone triumphantly lifts their newly build saber into the air, finishing the experience on an emotional high note.“With her new toy in hand, she naturally wanted to walk around showing it off. Once guests have assembled their hilt, the experience concludes with a genuinely spine-tingling ethereal cameo from a legendary Star Wars character we won’t spoil here, and the Gatherers activating each guest’s newly constructed lightsaber by plugging it into their blade. You can build your saber however you’d like! For example, the rancor tooth pommel cap of the Elemental Nature sabres has been replaced with a bantha tusk cap. It’s worth noting here that if you haven’t been to Galaxy’s Edge in a while that the lightsaber customization options have changed. They’re presented with a hilt, four sleeves (of which they’ll pick two), two emitters (of which they’ll pick one), two pommel caps (of which they’ll also pick one), and two sets of activation plates and switches (of which they’ll select pick one set). Next, guests choose “scrap metal” parts specific to their theme. You can swap out the crystal, and in turn change the color of your blade anytime you choose. The remaining colors – as well as additional colors including yellow and black - are available for sale next door at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. If you’re having trouble choosing a Kyber Crystal color or can’t seem to choose between two, don’t fret. Available colors within the experience are red (like Sith including Darth Vader or Kylo Ren), green (Jedi including Luke Skywalker and Qui-Gon Jin), violet (Mace Windu), or blue (Obi-wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Rey). Once within Savi’s workshop, guests are able to choose the Kyber Crystal which will be the heart - and provide the blade-color - of their lightsaber. ![]() Guests choose one of the themes - and can look various examples provided by a Gatherer (cast member) - and then are then given a pin representing which theme they’ve chosen and then ushered in to the experience. Elemental Nature This theme embodies the Force-an energy created by all living things, like Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones and Rancor teeth. Protection and Defense Hilt materials bear mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect users with the ancient wellspring of the Force. Power and Control Originally forged by dark side warriors, this style features rumored remnants from the Sith home world and abandoned temples. Peace and Justice: Salvaged scraps from fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in these Republic-era designs honor the galaxy’s former guardians. After checking in - and paying the $249.00 plus tax the experience costs - you’ll be presented with a breakdown of available lightsaber themes: Once it’s time to check in, head to the location in the middle of Galaxy’s Edge. So before we dive into the specific lightsaber options available at Savi’s, let’s do a quick run through of the basics: First, to build a lightsaber you’ll most likely need to make a reservation beforehand. Fear not however, the Force is with you today as we’ve assembled the ultimate guide to every custom lightsaber option at Galaxy’s Edge. ![]() However, it can also be overwhelming, given the sheer amount of options provided. The experience of constructing a custom version of the most iconic weapon of the Star Wars universe has become an expensive must-do for any fan visiting Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios or Disneyland. However, there’s been one element of Galaxy’s Edge that’s stood above the rest: building one’s own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, many guests have fallen in love with the land thanks to heavily-themed Star Wars experiences ranging from flying the Millennium Falcon on Smuggler’s Run to drinking blue milk. ![]()
